July 2010

  • 4th of July Festivities: We will have a parade and potluck barbeque in Sofia Park. Later, join your neighbors for fireworks galore! For more information, please contact Allison Sherman.

  • Fireworks – Keep it Legal/Keep it Safe (taken from an article by Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue)

    • Only adults should handle or light fireworks. Supervise children and teens at all times when fireworks are being used.

    • Store fireworks, matches and lighters out of reach of children.

    • Use fireworks outside on a paved surface, away from cars, buildings, and vegetation.

    • Have a hose, bucket of water or a fire extinguisher nearby to douse misfired and spent fireworks.

    • Never point or throw fireworks at buildings or people.

    • Never alter or make your own fireworks.

What is illegal? Oregon law bans fireworks that fly, explode or act in an uncontrolled manner. Many fireworks purchased by mail order or in the state of Washington are illegal in Oregon. Bottle Rockets, Roman Candles, M80s and firecrackers are ILLEGAL in Oregon.

CC&R REMINDERS

  • Keep trash cans and recycle bins out of view. Please remember that trash and recycle containers should only be placed out on the regularly scheduled trash pick-up day.

  • Window air-conditioners are not allowed. Window air-conditioning units and window fans are not allowed according to the CC&Rs, Section 6.24.

  • Parking rules:

    • Adhere to “No Parking” signs. Remember that there is no parking allowed in the alleys. Parking is not permitted where signs are posted, and parking in excess of 24 hours of boats, trailers, motorcycles, mobile homes, campers or other RV equipment, is not allowed on any part of the Property or on public streets within the community.

    • Parking and garages. Remember that garages are to be used for vehicle parking, and only secondarily for storage. As more homeowners move into the community, it is essential that everyone respect their neighbors, and park only in approved areas. Garage doors must be open only for entering or exiting. For homes with rear-entrance garages, remember: there is no parking allowed in the alleyways.

  • Thinking of making some exterior improvements? Remember, any changes or additions to the exterior of your property must be approved by the Architectural Review Committee (ARC). The ARC form may be found on the Northwest Community Management website. When you apply to the ARC for any changes (before starting any structural or landscape improvement), be sure to include the plans and specifications showing (if applicable) the nature, shape, heights, materials, colors, and proposed location of the improvement. Remember that you must have your project approved in writing by the Architectural Review Committee (ARC) before beginning work. Note that an ARC application must also be submitted if you want to install a satellite dish.
